Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced 70% completion of the Umm Suqeim Street Improvement Project, stretching from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The upgrade is a key part of the 16 km Umm Suqeim–Al Qudra corridor, enhancing connectivity across major Dubai highways.His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General, stated the project will increase road capacity to 16,000 vehicles per hour and slash travel time between Al Khail and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Roads by 61%, from 9.7 to 3.8 minutes. The corridor serves over one million residents in areas including Al Barsha South, Dubai Hills, and Arjan.A major feature is an 800-metre tunnel with four lanes in each direction.

The RTA is also leveraging AI and drone technology to improve efficiency, doubling field presence and cutting site survey time by 60%.The current works build on previous phases completed in 2013 and 2020, which included bridges, intersections, and infrastructure near Dubai Hills Mall.
