Sharjah: American University of Sharjah (AUS) and BEEAH have partnered to launch the BEEAH Professorship in Environmental Innovation and Sustainable Development, backed by AED 5 million in funding from BEEAH. The new professorship aims to drive interdisciplinary research in renewable energy, waste management, and circular economy solutions.
The agreement was signed by AUS Chancellor Dr. Tod A. Laursen and BEEAH CEO Khaled Al Huraimel, in the presence of Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of AUS. The initiative reinforces the UAE’s leadership in sustainability and supports AUS’ top-ranking status in environmental sustainability in the QS World University Rankings 2025.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to solving global environmental challenges through research and leadership,” said Dr. Laursen. Al Huraimel added that the professorship will unlock academic excellence and transformative innovation for a sustainable future.The professorship will play a key role in advancing research in climate resilience, smart cities, and sustainable urban development, while preparing students to lead in a green economy.
