Abu Dhabi, : In a groundbreaking humanitarian initiative, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, has pledged AED 4 million to fund 10 free advanced prosthetic surgeries for underprivileged amputees at Burjeel Medical City (BMC).
The surgeries will be performed at the newly launched Al Muderis Osseointegration Clinic, led by world-renowned orthopedic surgeon Prof. Dr. Munjed Al Muderis. The cutting-edge procedure, being introduced to the Middle East for the first time, anchors prosthetic limbs directly to the bone using titanium implants—dramatically improving mobility, stability, and comfort.
“This is about restoring dignity and hope,” said Dr. Shamsheer. “We’re proud to bring this life-changing technology to those most in need.”Prof. Al Muderis, known for pioneering this technology globally, emphasized the clinic’s mission to empower amputees to live fully and independently.Beneficiaries will be selected based on medical need, with further announcements expected soon.
