Dubai:The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a comprehensive traffic enhancement campaign covering 40 strategic locations across Dubai, with work scheduled to take place between June and September 2025. The initiative aims to improve road safety, ease congestion, and enhance connectivity amid the city’s ongoing urban development. The wide-ranging improvements will span 22 key streets, 9 school zones, over 5 development areas, and several internal roads in fast-growing communities such as Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, and Nad Al Sheba. By carrying out the works during the summer holiday, RTA intends to minimise disruptions to traffic and uphold the highest safety standards throughout the project duration.“This initiative underscores RTA’s commitment to future-proofing Dubai’s road infrastructure in line with the city’s rapid population growth and economic expansion,” said a spokesperson for the Authority. “The enhancements will contribute significantly to safer, more efficient travel across residential, educational, and commercial areas.”Among the most notable upgrades in the next phase are improvements to critical routes including Jumeirah Village Circle towards Hessa Street, Ras Al Khor Road, Al Thanya Street, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. Enhancements are also set for Al Meydan Street, Al Sa’ada Street, Al Asayel Street, and the Al Wasl Street-Al Manara Street junction.

The initiative also places strong emphasis on road safety around schools. Nine major school zones will receive improvements, including the Al Warqa 1 school complex, where infrastructure upgrades are planned. At GEMS School in Al Warqa 3, a new bus entrance will be constructed, while The English College in Al Safa 1 will benefit from widened access points to ease congestion on Sheikh Zayed Road. A signal-controlled pedestrian crossing will also be installed on Al Seedaf Street in Al Barsha 1.

In response to new residential and labour developments, traffic solutions are being introduced in five development areas. Key projects include a direct access route from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Muhaisnah labour camps, upgrades to Al Mustaqbal Street (Brookfield), and enhanced connectivity between Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street via Al Marabea’ Street. Additional improvements are planned near Nad Al Hamar junction and at the Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena 1, where new parking facilities will be added.Internal road upgrades will also be completed in areas such as Jebel Ali Industrial 1, Al Warqa, and Nad Al Sheba. In the Al Quoz Creative Zone, new pedestrian walkways will be constructed to enhance walkability and safety.RTA’s summer infrastructure campaign reflects the Authority’s strategic focus on sustainable urban mobility, safer school environments, and responsive planning in line with Dubai’s continued transformation into a global smart city.
