Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday laid the foundation stone of the first station of the Dubai Metro Blue Line.In a post on his official X page, Sheikh Mohammed said: “I laid the foundation stone for the first station of the Dubai Metro’s Blue Line, a station set to become a new architectural icon added to Dubai’s renowned urban landmarks. With a total investment of Dh56 billion, the Blue Line will stretch 30 kilometres, bringing the total length of Dubai’s rail network to 131 kilometres and 78 stations.”Since its launch, the Dubai Metro has transported over 2.5 billion passengers by the end of last year, with an average daily ridership of 900,000. The new line is set to significantly enhance the emirate’s transport infrastructure, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to smart urban development and sustainable mobility.Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed: “We continue to develop Dubai… we continue to build the best city to live in the world.’The Blue Line will span a total length of 30 km, with 15.5 km running underground and 14.5 km above ground.


With its 14 stations, including key interchange points like the Creek Station on the Green Line, Centrepoint Station on the Red Line, and Dubai International City Station 1, along with the iconic station at Dubai Creek Harbour, the Blue Line is set to be a pivotal element in the ongoing development of the city’s transportation network.
