Sharja: Sharjah made history as the first Arab city to participate in Readmagine 2025, a leading European publishing innovation forum held in Madrid. The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) spotlighted its Onshur Publishing Sustainability Fund, presenting it as a global model for supporting and empowering publishers.In a session titled “Empowering Emirati Publishers through Onshur”, Iman Ben Chaibah, SBA’s Director of Strategic Initiatives, and Shatha Nasser, founder of Kairos Publishing, detailed how Onshur provides financial support, training, and mentorship across its three key tracks—launch, scale, and disrupt.
Shatha Nasser shared how Onshur enabled her to establish Kairos Publishing, focused on translating Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese classics into Arabic. The session drew strong international interest, with participants praising the leadership of Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, SBA Chairperson, and expressing hope to replicate Onshur’s success in other markets.
