Dubai ∙ Following a massive fire in a multi-storey building in Dubai Marina, Dubai Civil Defense teams worked tirelessly for six hours to bring the fire under control. Special units evacuated 3,820 residents from 764 apartments safely. Authorities have confirmed that the people are safe. The fire broke out late last night (Friday) in the 67-storey Marina Pinnacle – Tiger Tower, and it is currently under control, according to the Dubai Media Office. The evacuation efforts were completed at 2:21 AM today. Authorities are now working with the building’s developer to provide temporary accommodation for the residents. An investigation is underway regarding the cause of the fire. This building is home to many Indians, including Malayalis. The fire started on an upper floor and spread to the lower floors. Debris from the building fell and damaged some vehicles below. A fire had broken out in the kitchen on the 47th floor on May 25, 2015.Although it has spread to the 48th floor, Dubai Civil Defense has taken control of it. This tower is located near the Torch. The Torch has been a victim of fire twice, in 2015 and 2017.
