Abu Dhabi,:Burjeel Holdings, in partnership with Colombia-based Keralty, has officially launched Alkalma, a regional mental health and wellbeing platform, by integrating four premier mental health centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Located in Dubai’s City Walk and Healthcare City, Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen, and Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District, the centers collectively offer a capacity of 90,000 consultations annually. This initiative marks the first phase of a multi-year expansion aimed at addressing the region’s critical mental health care gap, with a focus on prevention, accessibility, and value-based care. Despite mental health affecting 1 in 5 people annually, it receives less than 5% of healthcare funding regionally.John Sunil, CEO of Burjeel Holdings, called the move “a pivotal step” in advancing inclusive, high-quality care. Alkalma CEO Dr. Emilio Herrera emphasized that “there is no health without mental health,” underscoring the platform’s mission to support national wellbeing priorities.
The strategic integration, facilitated by regional investment firm Shorooq, sets the stage for a unified brand rollout, expanded clinical capacity, and a new digital mental health platform targeting underserved communities in the coming months.
