The feedback from the premiere was overwhelmingly positive.Sumathi Valavu officially hit theatres worldwide on Friday and has been welcomed as a wholesome family-friendly horror-comedy. Speaking to the press at the Dubai premiere, the film’s team—including lead actors Arjun Ashokan, Balu Varghese, Malavika Manoj, director Vishnu Sasi Shankar, and screenwriter Abhilash Pillai—expressed their gratitude to the audience and the media.

Written by Abhilash Pillai, Sumathi Valavu features music by Ranjin Raj. All the songs from the film have already made it to the trending charts, and the trailer, released a few days ago, continues to go viral across social media.
According to Abhilash Pillai, today’s generation of filmmakers dreams of creating movies reminiscent of the golden era of Malayalam cinema in the 1990s. Sumathi Valavu is set in the nostalgic backdrop of the year 1993—the same period when the classic Manichitrathazhu was released.

The film has also garnered attention for its unique ensemble, which brings together a new generation of film industry legacies. Director Vishnu Sasi Shankar is the son of veteran filmmaker Sasi Shankar. Arjun Ashokan, the film’s lead, is the son of Harisree Ashokan. Other notable names in the cast include Mukesh’s son Shravan and Suresh Gopi’s son Gokul Suresh. Lyrics for the songs were penned by Din Nath Puthenchery, son of the legendary lyricist Girish Puthenchery. Balu Varghese and Malavika Manoj also play pivotal roles and participated in the Dubai press meet.

With its nostalgic theme, talented star cast, and strong musical lineup, Sumathi Valavu is shaping up to be a must-watch theatrical experience for Malayalam film lovers around the world.
