Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the closure of entry and exit points to Al Barsha South via Umm Suqeim Street due to ongoing road development works. The closures will remain in effect until the project is completed.
Motorists are advised to follow road signs and use alternative routes, including:
- Street 31 near ENOC petrol station
- Dubai Science Complex Exit
- Al Hadaeq Street
- Hessa Street
The RTA has urged drivers to plan their journeys in advance and leave early to avoid delays.
The closures are part of the Umm Suqeim Street development project, announced in May 2025, with a total investment of AED 332 million. About 70% of the project is already completed. It includes an 800-meter-long, 8-lane tunnel (4 lanes in each direction), and upgrades across a 16-kilometer stretch from Jumeirah Street to Emirates Road. Six major roads, including Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, are part of the upgrade, along with the construction of four bridges and three tunnels spanning a total of 4.1 kilometers.
