New Delhi: Extending greetings on India’s 79th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu hailed the nation’s journey since 1947, saying that India has charted its own democratic path and determined its own future. She emphasised that the Constitution and democracy remain the nation’s greatest strengths.
Speaking with pride, the President said that occasions like Independence Day and Republic Day not only celebrate freedom but also reinforce the identity of every proud Indian. In her address, she highlighted the four core values enshrined in the Constitution — justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity — which were reclaimed during the freedom struggle and continue to guide the nation.

President Murmu noted that India is moving confidently towards self-reliance, securing a GDP growth rate of 6.5% and becoming the fastest-growing major economy in the world. “Our nation is the mother of democracy, ensuring equal justice and equal opportunities for all,” she said.
She also referenced significant national achievements, including Operation Sindoor and astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla’s space mission, underscoring the nation’s progress in various sectors. At the same time, she urged citizens not to forget the hardships of the partition era.
