The Arab Youth Media Creativity Summit 2025, which concluded in New Alamein City, Egypt, has officially endorsed a UAE-led initiative aimed at combating cyber abuse and promoting safer online interactions.
The initiative, introduced by the UAE Journalists Association, focuses on curbing online hostility, cyberbullying, and organised smear campaigns. It encourages social media users to block offenders rather than engage in disputes or amplify harmful content.
First launched at the national level, the campaign demonstrated strong results in reducing the spread of online abuse before being expanded to a regional platform.
The initiative was originally proposed by Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Media Council. It was presented at the summit by Fadheela Al Muaini, President of the UAE Journalists Association, where it received broad support and formal adoption.
The move reflects a growing regional commitment to creating a healthier and more responsible digital media environment for young people across the Arab world.
