New Delhi: Senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader and former General Secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy passed away at the age of 83. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad following a prolonged illness.
Sudhakar Reddy served as the CPI’s General Secretary from 2012 to 2019. He stepped down from the post due to health issues. A prominent leader in the Left movement, Reddy was elected twice to the Lok Sabha from the Nalgonda constituency in Telangana, serving between 1998 and 2004.
Born in Kurnool, Reddy began his political journey through student activism and rose through the ranks of the CPI. In 2012, he succeeded A.B. Bardhan as the party’s General Secretary. Throughout his career, he was at the forefront of many struggles led by the CPI and remained a key figure in India’s Left politics.His demise marks the end of a significant chapter in the party’s history.
