Abu Dhabi: The spirit of Onam is in full swing across the expatriate community in the GCC, with mega celebrations, registration drives, and advance bookings for grand Onam feasts already underway. As the festive market picks up pace, fresh organic vegetables are taking center stage, making traditional Onam Sadya healthier and more vibrant this year.
Consumers are showing a clear preference for fresh fruits and vegetables over ready-to-eat products, with healthy recipes and natural produce dominating the demand.
To meet this festive need, Lulu Group has announced the availability of 2,500 tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables across its GCC hypermarkets, sourced from India and other top origins. Speaking on the occasion, Lulu’s Global Operations Director Salim M.A. said the initiative not only ensures the best quality for customers but also supports sustainable and organic farming practices. A wide range of Kerala’s traditional products has also been specially stocked for the season.

Lulu’s popular Onam Payasam Festival has also returned with a healthy twist. Out of 30 varieties of payasam on offer, more than 10 fall under the healthy choice category. Specialties such as millet payasam, oats payasam, aval payasam, ragi green gram payasam, tender coconut payasam, navarathna payasam, and jackfruit payasam are among the highlights.
Adding to the excitement, Lulu has launched pre-booking for its 25-dish Onam Sadya. Customers can conveniently place orders both online and directly at Lulu stores, ensuring a hassle-free festive experience.
With a mix of tradition, health, and convenience, Lulu is once again set to make this year’s Onam celebrations truly memorable for the Malayali diaspora across the GCC.
