Children in Dubai are now starting their education with lessons in artificial intelligence, coding, and robotics as part of the UAE’s new school curriculum. The initiative begins as early as kindergarten, where students experiment with toy robots, augmented reality, and creative digital tools designed to build curiosity and confidence in technology.
At Dubai Schools Al Barsha, young learners are already writing simple codes and engaging with AI-powered activities such as 3D animations. Teachers say the goal is to nurture problem-solving, creativity, and digital awareness from the very beginning of a student’s academic journey.
The decision to roll out AI studies across public schools was announced in May by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Covering classes from KG to Grade 12, the program is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to prepare future generations for a knowledge-based, tech-driven economy.
Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education, confirmed that the curriculum will not only focus on technical skills such as algorithms, data, and software, but also on teaching children the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
By introducing AI in classrooms at such an early stage, the UAE aims to equip students with the skills needed to lead in innovation and compete in a fast-evolving global digital landscape.
