Dubai:Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out a set of rapid traffic improvement measures on Al Thanya Street, a vital road link between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road.
The project includes upgrading the existing roundabout on Sheikh Zayed Road’s service road leading to Al Thanya Street, building a signalised junction at Street 10, and adding pedestrian walkways and traffic signals to enhance road safety.

Scheduled for completion in early September 2025, the upgrades are designed to improve traffic flow, cut travel times for residents of Umm Al Sheif and Al Manara, and provide safer routes for pedestrians and cyclists. The works complement earlier upgrades along Sheikh Zayed Road’s service road and aim to accommodate future traffic growth in the area.
“Al Thanya Street is a key connector in Dubai’s road network, carrying high traffic volumes due to its links with Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Umm Al Sheif, and Al Manara,” the RTA said in a statement. “These improvements will ease congestion, enhance safety, and improve quality of life for residents and visitors.”
The initiative forms part of RTA’s broader strategy to boost road efficiency, meet the demands of Dubai’s population growth, and reinforce the emirate’s global reputation for world-class infrastructure and transport systems.
