Dubai: Thousands of outdoor workers in Dubai’s construction sector found welcome relief from the summer heat through the ‘Fridge Al Fareej’ initiative. The campaign, launched once again this year, distributed free cold water, juices, ice creams, and snacks to laborers across the emirate, winning widespread appreciation.

Organized by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) – Dubai, in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, Furjan Dubai, and the Taqdeer Award Committee, the program was designed to ease the health risks and dehydration challenges workers face in extreme heat.
More than 19,000 workers benefited from this year’s campaign, with specially refrigerated vehicles delivering refreshments directly to labor sites across Dubai, including Al Barsha South, Arjan, and Dubai South. Senior GDRFA officials personally took part in handing out the items, spreading smiles and gratitude among the workforce.
“This initiative is a model of solidarity and compassion within the community,” GDRFA officials said. “The welfare of workers remains a top priority for Dubai. The strong response to last year’s campaign inspired us to expand the initiative again this summer.”
With its blend of care, comfort, and community spirit, Fridge Al Fareej has once more highlighted Dubai’s humanitarian face—offering not just cool refreshments, but also a warm touch of kindness to those who build the city under the blazing sun
