U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly criticized a recent U.S. appeals court ruling against tariffs, warning that the decision could devastate the nation’s economy and weaken its global standing.
In a fiery post on his platform Truth Social, Trump declared that without tariffs and taxes, “the country would be headed for ruin.” He argued that repealing tariffs would cause many investments to be canceled and claimed that America’s military strength would be “instantly wiped out,” leaving the nation vulnerable and reduced to “a third world country.”
Trump Targets Court’s Ideological Leanings
Trump alleged that the panel’s majority judges were “far-left”, while praising the one dissenting judge, thanking him for his “courage” and professing his “love and respect for America.”
Navarro Echoes Trump’s Concerns
Trump’s trade adviser, Peter Navarro, also blasted the court, calling the judges who supported the ruling “politicians in black.” He argued that the dissenting opinion lays the groundwork for a successful appeal in the Supreme Court, where they believe a reversal is possible.
Navarro echoed Trump’s warning, stating that if the Supreme Court does not uphold tariffs, it would mark “the end of America as we know it.”
This heated response underscores how tariffs remain a cornerstone of Trump’s economic vision and a central battleground as he positions himself against judicial and political opposition.
