Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of External Affairs has appointed Dr. Deepak Mittal as the new Ambassador of India to the United Arab Emirates. He will succeed Sanjay Sudhir, the current ambassador.Dr. Mittal is a 1998-batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and is presently serving as an Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. He previously held the position of Indian Ambassador to Qatar from 2020 to 2023.His appointment comes at a time of growing cooperation between India and the UAE in key sectors such as trade, investment, energy, and technology. Given this evolving strategic partnership, Dr. Mittal’s new role is considered highly significant.Sources indicate that he is expected to take charge soon.
