Dubai, UAE – Passengers at Dubai International Airport (DXB) can soon expect faster, smoother immigration clearance as the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA-Dubai) announced plans to expand its innovative ‘Red Carpet’ Smart Corridors beyond Terminal 3.

Launched in collaboration with Dubai Airports, the cutting-edge system uses artificial intelligence (AI) and biometric identification to allow travelers to clear passport control without presenting travel documents.

World’s First Ultra-Fast Immigration System

Each Smart Corridor can process up to 10 passengers at a time, with an average clearance time of just 6 to 14 seconds per traveler. The system, described as the world’s first ultra-fast immigration technology, scans passengers’ faces as they walk through, instantly verifying identity.

If any discrepancy is detected, the system automatically redirects the traveler for further checks, ensuring both speed and security.

Document-Free, AI-Powered Travel

One of the standout features of the Smart Corridor is its ability to recognize travelers without physical documents.

“Before crossing the border, airport systems can already identify passenger details,” explained Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of GDRFA-Dubai. “This not only accelerates procedures but also doubles the airport’s processing capacity while enhancing our ability to detect suspicious individuals and prevent violations.”

The Smart Corridor also accommodates families and large groups, allowing them to pass through immigration together. Currently available at DXB Terminal 3 for selected passengers, the service is set for wider rollout in the coming months.

Officials emphasize that expansion will deliver a seamless, contactless, and ultra-fast travel experience, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub.

A Step Towards the Future of Travel

With AI, biometrics, and smart sensors powering this breakthrough system, Dubai is positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation airport experiences. Passengers can expect greater efficiency, reduced waiting times, and improved security as the system expands.
