Sharjah: A new safety initiative launched by the Sharjah Police is set to enhance student safety on school buses. The service, called ‘Ma’aman’, has been developed in collaboration with the Sharjah Private Education Authority. It allows school bus drivers and supervisors to send an instant alert to the police in the event of emergencies such as accidents, medical needs, or vehicle breakdowns. The core feature of this system is a red emergency button installed inside the school bus. When pressed, the button sends an immediate distress signal to the Sharjah Police Control Room. Unlike a standard alarm system, this setup also transmits real-time data including the exact location of the bus, allowing authorities to respond more effectively.
Upon receiving the alert, the police control room will directly contact the bus supervisor to assess the situation and simultaneously dispatch a police patrol unit to the location.
Authorities say the system is designed to ensure a swift response during critical moments, helping to provide timely assistance and maintain student safety. Since its implementation, the initiative has gained wide approval for its innovative approach to school transportation safety.
This advanced system reflects Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to student welfare and the proactive use of technology in public safety.
