Dubai:Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion and ongoing development of 103 kilometres of internal roads across eight residential and industrial areas, aimed at boosting mobility, road safety, and quality of life for thousands of residents.
Completed Projects
RTA has completed two major projects:
• Al Khawaneej 2 (Tolerance District): Six kilometres of new internal roads, 765 roadside parking spaces, 178 lighting poles, and a cycling track connected to Amman Street and surrounding roads.
• Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1: Construction and maintenance of 27 kilometres of roads, seven new roundabouts, a signalised junction at First Al Khail Street and Street 23, plus 42 kilometres of road lighting to enhance traffic flow and safety for heavy vehicles.
Ongoing Developments
Six more communities are now seeing upgrades:
• Al Awir 1: 16.5 kilometres of internal roads, including a 7.5-kilometre dual-lane link to Emirates Road. Road capacity will double from 1,500 to 3,000 vehicles per hour, supported by a new four-kilometre lane on Emirates Road. Completion: Q2 2026.
• Nad Al Sheba 1, 3 and 4: 32 kilometres of new and upgraded roads, 15 kilometres of walkways and cycling tracks, and enhanced landscaping near schools, mosques, parks, and shopping centres. Completion: 2025–2027.
• Al Warqa’a: New entry and exit points to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, signalised intersections, and enhanced street lighting. The project will benefit 350,000 residents, cutting travel times by 80% (from 20 minutes to just 3.5). Completion: end of 2025.
• Wadi Al Amardi: 15 kilometres of new roads, including a 4-kilometre Tripoli Street expansion, 405 lighting poles, and 1,000 parking spaces. The project will reduce trip distances by 80% and serve 30,000 residents. Completion: Q3 2026.
