Dubai: A major controversy has erupted after prominent Dubai-based artist Muhammed Dileef lodged a formal complaint with the Palakkad Police Superintendent, alleging that his unique Quran calligraphy artwork was sold without his consent by an acquaintance.According to the complaint, Jamsheer Vadagiri, a native of Alathur, Palakkad, approached Dileef in Dubai claiming to be a close associate of social worker Firoz Kunnumparambil.

Jamsheer allegedly convinced the artist that he would present the rare artwork to senior government officials in Dubai. The calligraphy, which Dileef spent nearly three years creating, had previously gained global attention at the Sharjah International Book Fair, being hailed as one of the world’s largest Quran artworks. Following the transaction, Jamsheer reportedly fled Dubai and returned to Kerala with the money.

Dileef, who says he has suffered severe financial and emotional distress due to the betrayal, has urged the authorities to recover the artwork and initiate legal proceedings against Jamsheer. The Palakkad Police have taken cognizance of the complaint and are expected to begin a detailed investigation into the incident
