New Delhi, India – CP Radhakrishnan is set to take the oath as the Vice President of India tomorrow at 10 am in a formal ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to the Vice President-elect, following his decisive victory in the recent election where he defeated Indian Alliance candidate B Sudarshan Reddy by a margin of 152 votes. Securing 452 out of the 767 votes polled, CP Radhakrishnan’s win comes in the wake of the resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on July 21.
CP Radhakrishnan’s political journey spans several decades, beginning with his early involvement in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at age 16. He became a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and later one of the main faces of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu. His political career includes serving as a two-time Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore, as well as holding key roles such as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textiles. He also served as the Governor of Jharkhand and was the BJP’s Kerala Prabhari from 2020 to 2022.
