Congress Faces Backlash Over AI Video Depicting PM Modi’s Late Mother, BJP Calls It Misogynistic

New Delhi, India – The political temperature in India has risen further as the Bihar Congress released an AI-generated video featuring an animated character resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s deceased mother, Heeraben Modi. The video portrays Heeraben appearing in Modi’s dream, admonishing him for allegedly using her for electoral gains. The release has ignited a fierce debate, with BJP accusing Congress of indulging in unethical and misogynistic political behavior.

The video, captioned “Mother appears in Saheb’s dreams. Watch this interesting conversation,” was uploaded by the Bihar Congress and quickly went viral on social media platforms. In the clip, the AI version of Heeraben scolds Modi, questioning the morality of using her name in politics. The scene ends with the Prime Minister’s character waking up in shock, underscoring the alleged guilt.

This development comes in the backdrop of PM Modi’s own statements, where he claimed that both he and his mother had been subjected to abusive remarks during a voter rights march led by Rahul Gandhi in Bihar. BJP leaders, led by national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, accused the Congress of deliberately mocking the late mother at Rahul Gandhi’s behest. “It is painful to see the Congress stoop to such a low level,” said Bhandari in an exclusive interview, describing the video as misogynistic and a blatant attempt to tarnish the dignity of the Prime Minister’s family.

Political analysts point out that the controversy highlights the increasingly aggressive and controversial nature of election campaigns in India, especially in high-stake states like Bihar. The incident raises serious questions about the ethical limits of political propaganda and the use of emerging technologies such as AI in political discourse.

Public opinion has largely been divided, with many condemning the Congress for what they view as a disrespectful and manipulative political stunt, while others argue it is a form of political satire. As the controversy continues to unfold, the incident is likely to dominate headlines in the coming days and fuel further debates around the misuse of technology in politics.

This case underscores the growing role of digital media in election campaigns and the potential risks of unregulated content creation. It also invites a broader reflection on political decorum and the fine line between legitimate criticism and personal attacks.
