Dubai: The Dubai Press Club (DPC) has officially opened submissions for the tenth edition of the ‘Ibda’a – Arab Youth Media Award’, a premier platform dedicated to recognising and nurturing young media talent across the Arab world. Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the award has become a key stepping stone for aspiring media professionals.

The Award offers students an opportunity to showcase creativity, gain visibility, and take their first steps into the media industry. It also acts as a bridge connecting emerging talent with media institutions seeking academically qualified professionals. Maryam Al Mulla, Director of DPC, said: “The Award continues to play a vital role in empowering young media talent and connecting them with institutions that shape the region’s media landscape. The future of Arab media depends on youth energy and creativity, and ‘Ibda’a’ serves as a launchpad for innovation and professional excellence.”

Submissions are now open to media students from all Arab countries, as well as Arab students studying media abroad. The deadline for entries is 16 February 2026, and submissions can be made either directly by students or through universities, provided that an official letter confirms enrolment and supports the application. All entries must comply with the rules set by the Organising Committee.

The Award features six main categories: Photography, Podcasting, News Reports, E-Games, Multimedia, and Short Video. Entries can be submitted in Arabic or English, individually or in teams, and must be original, free from advertising or promotion, with full ownership of materials confirmed. Each category carries a prize of USD 5,000, underscoring the Award’s commitment to rewarding creativity and talent. Interested students can submit their entries via the official DPC website at https://dpc.org.ae.

Amna Khalil, Director of the Award, highlighted its responsiveness to rapid changes in the media sector, stating: “We encourage universities to support their students in participating. The competition continues to attract innovative submissions, offering students a platform to express creativity across traditional and digital media.”

The winners will be honoured during a ceremony at the Arab Youth Media Forum, an annual event hosted by DPC that brings together media leaders and the next generation of professionals to discuss emerging trends shaping the industry.
