Sharjah: The “Onappuram 2025” festival, organised by Moms & Wives IPA, brought the spirit of Onam alive at the Sharjah Expo Centre, delivering an unforgettable celebration for more than 3,500 expatriates. The event blended music, dance, and cultural vibrancy, creating a festive atmosphere that showcased Kerala’s rich traditions.
The festivities opened with a spectacular chenda melam performance by acclaimed actor Padma Shri Jayaram, who also shared reflections from his four-decade-long artistic journey and extended heartfelt gratitude to the expatriate community. The ceremony was presided over by IPA Chairman Riyas Kilton, with Confident Group Chairman Dr. C.J. Roy as chief guest. IPA General Convener Yunus Thanal welcomed the audience.
Following a traditional Onam feast, the cultural extravaganza featured performances by viral singer Hanan Shah, celebrated dancer Ramzan, and playback singer Naresh Iyer, who captivated the audience with A.R. Rahman hits. The show was hosted by RJ Mithun Ramesh, with blogger Lakshmi Mithun adding to the charm of the evening.
The event also saw the launch of the International Promoters Association’s new website and mobile app. A highlight of the evening was Padma Shri Jayaram honoring Chacko Oolakad, a prominent figure in the expatriate community for over four decades.
With strong participation from business leaders, community representatives, and IPA’s director board and executive members, Onappuram 2025 stood out as a true celebration of unity, tradition, and cultural pride among expatriates in the UAE.
