DUBAI: In a heartwarming gesture of compassion, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai launched the ‘Eid Hospitality’ initiative to bring joy to inmates during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. The project specifically catered to residents at the Al Aweer Follow-up and Investigation Center, allowing them to reconnect with their loved ones.
Understanding the emotional toll of being away from family during festive seasons, authorities arranged special video calling facilities for inmates of various nationalities. This allowed them to exchange Eid greetings and see their family members virtually, bridging the distance between them.
In addition to the video call sessions, the GDRFA also distributed free mobile phone cards to inmates, enabling them to make international calls to their home countries. This initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to humanitarian values and social inclusion, ensuring that no one feels isolated or forgotten during special occasions.
