Redeveloped corniche, marina and heritage-inspired boulevard to reshape coastal community into integrated lifestyle destination
Ras Al Khaimah: The UAE has announced a major redevelopment initiative in the Al Rams area of Ras Al Khaimah, with plans to transform the coastal village into a vibrant integrated waterfront destination aimed at enhancing quality of life, tourism appeal and sustainable urban growth.
The Emirates Council for Balanced Development confirmed the launch of development works for the Al Rams Waterfront and Al Rams Boulevard projects as part of broader national efforts to revitalise UAE villages and rural communities while preserving Emirati heritage and identity.
The waterfront project will feature the redevelopment of a two-kilometre coastal stretch, including dedicated walking, cycling and jogging tracks, public facilities, green spaces, playgrounds, plazas and parking areas designed to support recreational and community activities.
Officials said the development will include the modernisation of Al Rams Corniche and Al Rams Marina, reinforcing the area’s position as a social and cultural destination while providing a safe and organised environment for residents and visitors.
A key highlight of the project is the construction of a heritage-inspired landmark reflecting authentic Emirati culture. The structure is expected to create a distinctive visual identity for Al Rams while strengthening its appeal as both a tourism and community destination.
Alongside the waterfront redevelopment, the Al Rams Boulevard project aims to revitalise the area’s main commercial corridor through an integrated urban design connecting directly to the waterfront.
More than 100 existing shops will undergo renovation under a unified architectural and visual identity inspired by local heritage. The boulevard will also feature additional parking spaces and public seating areas to improve accessibility and visitor experience.
At the heart of the boulevard, planners will introduce a shaded pedestrian walkway inspired by the traditional Emirati “Al Sadu” weaving art. The pathway will link commercial spaces and extend seamlessly towards Al Rams Corniche, blending cultural elements with modern urban design.
Authorities said construction activities will be carried out in carefully planned phases to minimise disruption to businesses and ensure commercial operations continue during the implementation period.
The Emirates Council for Balanced Development stated that the initiative reflects the UAE’s long-term vision of creating integrated social and economic destinations across rural areas while maintaining the authenticity of the Emirati environment and promoting balanced national development.
