India’s iconic Kesar Mango takes centre stage, celebrating the strong cultural and trade ties between India and the UAE
Abu Dhabi: One of the region’s most anticipated and celebrated fruit festivals, LuLu Mango Mania, has officially begun across LuLu stores in the GCC, bringing together more than 85 premium mango varieties.
The festival was inaugurated by Dr. Deepak Mittal in the presence of Dr. Sudhanshu, Secretary of APEDA, Yusuffali M. A., senior officials, dignitaries, and representatives from the agriculture and trade sectors.
This year’s edition features an extensive showcase of premium mangoes from India and several international markets. The festival also highlights LuLu’s strong sourcing network and its continued commitment to promoting farmers, agricultural exports, and food trade partnerships.
A special attraction at this year’s festival is the renowned Kesar Mango, the GI-tagged “Queen of Mangoes” from Junagadh in Gujarat, India. The variety recently gained international attention after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a box of premium Kesar mangoes to UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his recent visit to the UAE, symbolising the warmth and growing friendship between the two nations. The same premium Kesar mangoes are now among the key highlights on display and sale during LuLu Mango Mania across the GCC.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Deepak Mittal said: “Mangoes today have become an important symbol of cultural connection and diplomacy as well. LuLu Mango Mania reflects the growing strength of India-UAE relations while also supporting Indian farmers, exporters, and the wider agricultural ecosystem.”
Dr. Sudhanshu, Secretary of APEDA, said: “Through initiatives like LuLu Mango Mania, Indian mangoes are reaching global consumers and further strengthening the agricultural trade partnership between India and the GCC region. We appreciate LuLu Group’s continued support in promoting Indian farmers, exporters, and premium GI-tagged mango varieties such as Alphonso, Kesar, Banganapalli and Dasheri in international markets.”
Commenting on the initiative, Yusuffali M.A. said: “This is the 23rd year of LuLu Mango Mania, and this year alone we are bringing nearly 3,200 tonnes of mangoes to the GCC region. Through this festival, we aim to introduce the rich diversity of Indian mangoes to the multicultural communities in the Gulf while also supporting farmers and agricultural exports from India and other sourcing markets.”
LuLu Mango Mania also offers customers a vibrant and unique array of mango based cuisines and ready to consume products adding to the shopping experience celebrating the world of mangoes — from rare varieties and unique flavours to attractive promotional offers and themed displays across LuLu stores in the GCC.
