Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority received 4,411 requests for the approval of electricity, water, and natural gas design plans across Sharjah during the first quarter of 2026, reflecting continued urban and infrastructure growth in the emirate.
According to SEWA, the applications covered commercial, residential, industrial, government, and agricultural projects across various parts of Sharjah.
The authority also issued 1,159 no-objection certificates (NOCs) during the same period, including 718 certificates related to electricity, water, gas, and fibre-optic services, as well as 441 NOCs for roadworks projects.
SEWA stated that the design approval requests included 1,614 electricity design applications, 1,046 water design requests, and 1,751 natural gas design submissions.
Engineer Abdulrahim Al Zarouni said the authority continues to improve and modernise its services in cooperation with strategic partners to streamline procedures and enhance service efficiency.
He noted that these efforts align with the directives of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi aimed at improving public services, reducing processing times, and facilitating procedures for residents and investors.
Al Zarouni added that the rise in requests reflects ongoing expansion and development projects across Sharjah, highlighting sustained economic, urban, and social growth in the emirate.
