The United Arab Emirates has successfully facilitated a new prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, resulting in the release of 370 captives as part of its ongoing humanitarian mediation efforts.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the latest exchange saw the release of 185 captives from each side, bringing the total number of prisoners exchanged through UAE mediation since the start of the conflict to 7,471.
The ministry praised both Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation and for placing their trust in the UAE’s role as an international mediator committed to supporting humanitarian initiatives and diplomatic solutions.
MoFA stated that the latest exchange marks the 24th successful mediation effort undertaken by the UAE between the two countries, reflecting the strong and balanced relationships the UAE maintains with both Moscow and Kyiv.
The ministry also highlighted that the continued success of these mediation efforts underscores the UAE’s growing role in international diplomacy and humanitarian conflict resolution.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, the UAE stressed its determination to support all initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and reducing its humanitarian consequences.
The ministry added that the UAE will continue to work with international partners to mitigate the impact of the crisis on affected communities, including refugees, detainees, and civilians impacted by the ongoing conflict.
The latest exchange represents another significant humanitarian breakthrough amid ongoing efforts to ease tensions and build confidence between the two sides.
