Dubai: Mr. V. Nandakumar, Group Chief Marketing Officer of LuLu Retail Holdings, has been recognized in Forbes Middle East’s prestigious list of the Most Influential CMOs 2026, a significant milestone that highlights his outstanding contribution to marketing, communications, and brand transformation across the Middle East.

The annual Forbes Middle East ranking recognizes marketing leaders who have successfully shaped corporate brands, driven business growth, and embraced innovation in an increasingly digital world. Nandakumar’s inclusion places him among an elite group of marketing professionals who continue to influence the future of marketing across the region.

With more than 25 years of global experience in marketing communications and retail, Nandakumar is widely regarded as one of the most respected marketing leaders in the GCC. He currently leads a team of over 300 marketing and communications professionals across 22 countries, overseeing the global marketing strategy of LuLu Group, one of the region’s largest and most diversified business conglomerates.

As the Global Marcom Director and Group Chief Marketing Officer of LuLu Retail Holdings, Nandakumar plays a pivotal role in driving brand vision, digital transformation, social media strategy, corporate communications, and CSR initiatives for the Group. LuLu Group today operates a diversified business portfolio spanning retail, hospitality, food processing, shopping malls, and e-commerce, with annual marketing investments exceeding US$300 million.

Originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Nandakumar’s professional journey is a remarkable example of determination and leadership. Before entering the corporate world, he worked as a journalist with leading Indian media organizations, including The Times of India and The Indian Express. He joined LuLu Group in 2001 as an Advertising Coordinator and steadily climbed the corporate ladder through various leadership roles, including Manager of Advertising & Promotions, Chief Communications Officer, and later Global Director of Marketing & Communications.

Over the years, he has been instrumental in transforming LuLu from a regional retailer into a globally recognized retail powerhouse. Under his leadership, the company successfully transitioned from traditional advertising methods to a dynamic omnichannel marketing ecosystem powered by digital platforms, data-driven insights, loyalty programs, and customer-centric engagement strategies.

Industry observers credit Nandakumar with popularizing the concept of experiential shopping within the hypermarket segment and spearheading LuLu’s transformation into one of the Middle East’s leading omnichannel retailers. His strategic vision has enabled the brand to continuously innovate while catering to diverse customer segments across multiple international markets.

One of his most notable achievements was his leadership role in the marketing and communication strategy surrounding LuLu Retail Holdings’ landmark listing on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX). The IPO attracted unprecedented investor interest and was oversubscribed more than 25 times, further strengthening LuLu’s position as one of the region’s most influential retail brands.

Nandakumar also takes particular pride in building LuLu’s marketing communications division from the ground up. What started as a two-member team in the early 2000s has evolved into a highly skilled, multicultural workforce of more than 300 professionals managing marketing operations across 22 countries.

His efforts and achievements have earned several prestigious recognitions over the years. In addition to being named among Forbes Middle East’s Most Influential CMOs 2026, he was ranked among the Top Marketing Leaders in the GCC, received the Retail Professional of the Year 2025 award from the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres & Retailers, and was honored as Retail Marcom Icon of the Year by the Middle East Retail Congress.

Reflecting on his career, Nandakumar has often emphasized the importance of authenticity, innovation, and understanding the diverse cultural backgrounds of consumers. A multilingual communicator, he considers his ability to connect with audiences across different regions and nationalities as one of the key factors behind his success.

As LuLu Group continues its global expansion, Nandakumar remains focused on transforming the organization into a truly digital-first global retail brand, further strengthening its footprint across international markets while maintaining its commitment to innovation and customer experience.

His recognition by Forbes Middle East not only celebrates a remarkable personal achievement but also underscores the growing influence of Indian-origin business leaders shaping the future of marketing and retail across the Middle East.
