flydubai has announced the launch of applications for its new Flight Dispatcher Programme, offering Emirati nationals an opportunity to build careers in the aviation sector through specialised training and professional development.

The initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between flydubai and Emirates Aviation University and forms part of the airline’s efforts to develop national talent and support the UAE’s long-term human capital strategy.

The first batch of candidates is scheduled to begin training in September 2026.

Designed for UAE nationals with no prior aviation experience, the programme aims to create a pipeline of skilled professionals capable of supporting flydubai’s expanding fleet and network while contributing to Dubai’s position as a leading global aviation hub.

Under the partnership, successful applicants will undertake the Flight Dispatcher Initial Course (FDIC) at Emirates Aviation University. The 10-week programme is approved by the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) under CAR Part II regulations and is designed to prepare candidates for obtaining a flight dispatcher licence.

The course covers a range of technical and operational subjects, including aviation law, meteorology, navigation, aircraft performance, weight and balance, human factors, and flight planning. It also focuses on the critical coordination between flight dispatchers and pilots to ensure safe and efficient airline operations.

Commenting on the launch, Nasser Binkherbash said the programme reflects the airline’s commitment to investing in people and developing future aviation professionals.

“Developing national talent and investing in our people is vital to flydubai’s growth strategy. This programme supports our workforce development plans while contributing to national goals by creating meaningful career opportunities and building a sustainable pool of future aviation professionals,” he said.

Eligible applicants must be UAE nationals, under 24 years of age, and hold a high school diploma.

Upon successfully completing the academic and practical components of the programme, participants will receive a Certificate of Course Completion, paving the way for obtaining an official flight dispatcher licence and pursuing a long-term career within flydubai’s flight operations division.

Professor Ahmad Al Ali said the programme represents an important step in preparing the next generation of Emirati aviation professionals.

He noted that the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing highly skilled national talent capable of contributing to the continued growth and global competitiveness of the UAE aviation sector.
