The strategic alliance targets upskilling across leadership, AI, and supply chain management to counter up to 75% skill shortages in Middle East industries.
DUBAI: In a major move to address the critical human resource shortage in the Middle East, global training and consulting giant Blue Ocean Corporation has signed a strategic partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), one of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious universities. Announced on June 29, 2026, the collaboration aims to significantly enhance professional and executive education across the UAE and the wider GCC region.
The alliance comes at a crucial time when rapid economic growth, coupled with the expansion of mega-projects in the UAE and Gulf region, has spiked the demand for contemporary workforce upskilling. Blue Ocean Corporation noted that corporate recruitment is currently facing a bottleneck due to a severe deficit in skilled and capable leadership candidates, driving an unprecedented demand for internationally certified professionals.
Under this agreement, UWTSD will formally certify selected professional and executive education programs developed by Blue Ocean Corporation. The curriculum will focus heavily on high-demand sectors, including leadership, management, C-suite (CXO) development, human resource development, supply chain, procurement, aviation, infrastructure development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and project leadership.
Expressing his view on the partnership, Professor Gareth Davies, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Health at UWTSD, said, “The world today is going through profound economic, technological, and social transformations. This has heightened the need for professionals who can think strategically, lead with purpose, and manage complex situations effectively.” He added that the joint commitment blends academic excellence with practical business relevance to nurture current and future leaders driving innovation and sustainable economic development.
Dr. Sathya Menon, Chairman and Managing Director of Blue Ocean Corporation, emphasized that leadership, rather than technology, remains the biggest hurdle for modern enterprises. “Artificial Intelligence, digital transformation, evolving workplace expectations, and economic uncertainties are reshaping all industries. Through this partnership, our goal is to foster leaders who can navigate these complexities, inspire people, and create a long-term impact,” Dr. Menon stated.
The partnership leverages a combined legacy of academic and corporate excellence. Established in 1822, UWTSD possesses a rich 200-year educational heritage in the UK, while Blue Ocean Corporation brings over three decades of specialized experience in professional education and executive development. Recent corporate studies indicate that the GCC region currently faces a daunting 50% to 75% skill gap across various industrial sectors, making certified talent acquisition a primary challenge for employers in 2026.
