The initiative introduces an Agentic AI-powered evaluation platform across three key categories to boost smart city governance.

DUBAI: Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has officially launched the second edition of its prestigious Scientific Research Award. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic research and practical governance by inviting innovators, researchers, and academics to submit pioneering solutions designed to elevate government service efficiency and future-proof public administration.

This specialized knowledge platform is designed to transform theoretical scientific research into practical, real-world solutions. By prioritizing future-focused studies, artificial intelligence (AI), and disruptive innovations, the GDRFA intends to significantly upgrade the quality and operational agility of public sector operations.

The initiative directly aligns with the UAE leadership’s long-term vision of cementing Dubai’s status as the world’s leading future-ready city. By converting top-tier research concepts into actionable blueprints, the award seeks to modernize administrative frameworks, foster sustainability, and position the UAE as a premier global hub for research and innovation.

In a major technological upgrade for this edition, the GDRFA announced that the evaluation process will be managed via a cutting-edge, Agentic AI-driven digital platform. This smart system is built to streamline the submission pipeline, maximize transparency, and rigorously verify that all entries align perfectly with the established academic and technical benchmarks.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, highlighted the strategic importance of the initiative: “This Scientific Research Award is a crucial milestone in strengthening our knowledge and innovation ecosystem. Actionable scientific research is essential for government development and sustainable evolution. This initiative ensures that research outcomes are seamlessly integrated into practical workflows that directly benefit the public.”

The award is organized in strategic partnership with prominent academics, elite research centers, and leading local and international educational institutions. Interested researchers, scholars, and tech innovators can explore detailed guidelines and submit their entries via the official portal at https://researchaward.gdrfad.gov.ae. For registration inquiries, applicants can directly reach out to the committee at researchaward.gdrfad@dnrd.ae.

The GDRFA Scientific Research Award is divided into three comprehensive pillars:

1. Digital Innovation Award: Focused on advancements in artificial intelligence, smart systems, and digital transformations that optimize operational efficiency.

2. Leadership Research and Knowledge Management Award: Dedicated to future-centric leadership development, skill cultivation, knowledge transfer, and continuous learning frameworks.

3. GDRFA Dubai Services Award: Geared toward actionable research that enhances customer experience, empowers front-line personnel, and scales up service quality.
