Sharjah Ruler Presents Rare 17th-Century Manuscript and Book to Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan

Milan, :His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has gifted a rare historical manuscript dated August 14, 1624, along with his scholarly book Papal Bull, to the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. The manuscript documents a papal decree issued by Pope Urban VIII to fund a Portuguese fleet to retake Hormuz.During the ceremony, His Highness praised the university’s academic efforts, especially in promoting Arabic studies, and highlighted Sharjah’s cultural commitment. The event was attended by dignitaries, including H.H. Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi, UAE Ambassador Abdulla AlSubousi, and Italian academic leaders.
The university’s rector, Dr. Elena Beccalli, commended the gift’s historical significance and the depth of Dr. Al Qasimi’s research. Students and faculty expressed gratitude for Sharjah’s continued cultural support. His Highness also toured a historical exhibition and was gifted a 1657 map of Milan in return.
