1,500 Heavy Vehicle Drivers Briefed During Campaign on Safety requirements

Dubai. Roads and Transport Authority. 1st July 2026:Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) implemented a comprehensive inspection and awareness campaign under the slogan “Trailer Safety” during the first half of this year. The campaign focused on licensing-related requirements and trailer safety on the emirate’s vital roads, ensuring their full compliance with technical standards and regulations. This initiative comes as part of RTA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing road safety standards and achieving its vision of becoming The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility.

Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at RTA, said: “The campaign reached 1,500 heavy vehicle drivers across the emirate’s key roads, focusing on the technical safety standards and requirements that vehicles must meet, including tyres, brakes, lights and other safety features. It also emphasised the importance of trailer licensing and registration, and the need for drivers to hold valid professional permits, as part of broader efforts to reduce traffic accidents.”

The campaign identified several technical defects in trailers, most notably worn-out tyres, defective rear and side lights, the absence of reflective stickers at the rear of trailers, and unsafe vehicle loading that might pose a risk to the road and its users. Accordingly, drivers were briefed on the relevant standards and requirements via a QR code providing guidance in three languages: Arabic, English and Urdu.

Al Ramsi added: “These routine campaigns support RTA’s traffic safety strategy and align with the strategic goal and objective of ‘Health, Safety and Security’ in enhancing mobility safety. They further support the logistics transport sector by promoting safer roads and protecting the safety of drivers and all road users.”
