Temperatures are expected to soar above 50°C alongside hot desert winds over the next 40 days.

ABU DHABI, July 1: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is bracing for the onset of ‘Jamrat Al Qayth’, a 40-day period characterized by extreme summer heat and intense desert winds, starting on July 3.

Meteorological authorities and experts have confirmed that the upcoming 40 days will bring the peak of the summer season to the region. During this phase, temperatures in the open desert areas are projected to surpass 50°C.

The period will also see the prevalence of ‘Samoom’, the intensely hot and dry desert winds that significantly elevate the perceived temperature and blow dust across inland areas. Humidity levels are also expected to fluctuate sharply during this timeframe.

In light of the severe weather forecast, authorities have issued comprehensive safety guidelines for the public. Residents are strongly advised to remain hydrated by drinking sufficient water, restrict outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and avoid direct exposure to sunlight to prevent heatstroke and exhaustion.
