Dubai: A 41-year-old Filipino healthcare worker, Ms. Jovelyn Sison Omes, has made a full recovery after undergoing life-saving brain surgery at Aster Hospital, Mankhool, to remove a rare and large brain tumor known as a falcine meningioma.
Ms. Omes, who had been suffering from severe headaches, double vision, and seizures, was diagnosed with a non-cancerous tumor nearly the size of a tennis ball. The complex surgery, led by Dr. Prakash Nair, Consultant Neurosurgeon, successfully removed the tumor entirely through a Simpson Grade 1 resection — minimizing the risk of recurrence. The tumor was pressing on critical areas of the brain, causing cerebral edema. Despite the challenging location, advanced surgical techniques ensured a complete and complication-free recovery. Ms. Omes was discharged just a week after surgery and has since returned to work, symptom-free.
“This case shows how early diagnosis and skilled surgical care can lead to excellent outcomes,” said Dr. Nair.
Now back to her normal life, Ms. Omes urges others not to ignore warning signs: “Early intervention saved my life. Don’t delay seeking help.”Aster Hospital Mankhool, ranked among the UAE’s top hospitals by Newsweek, continues to set benchmarks in advanced neurosurgical care.
