TEHRAN: Iranian state media reported on Thursday evening that two military facilities in southern Iran came under attack. However, US officials promptly denied carrying out any new military operations in the region, deepening the confusion surrounding the reported explosions.

According to the state-run IRNA news agency, a military installation near the city of Bushehr was targeted by what local officials described as “US-Israeli enemy projectiles.” Bushehr province hosts critical military infrastructure as well as Iran’s only operational civilian nuclear power plant. Reports indicate that the nuclear facility itself remains unaffected.

Separately, state broadcaster IRIB reported that a strategic naval military zone in Konarak, located on the Gulf of Oman in southeastern Iran, was struck twice by “enemy fighter jets.” Emergency services and security forces were quickly deployed to the area, according to Konarak county governor Mohammad Younes Haqani.

Contradicting Tehran’s claims, a US official told CNN that the American military was not conducting any strikes in Iran at the time of the incidents. Israeli officials also stated they had no knowledge of any involvement. The conflicting narratives come amid high regional volatility following previous exchanges of strikes between US forces and Iranian targets in the area.
