DUBAI, Aug. 5 : Dubai has secured the second position globally in the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Intelligent Cities Index, affirming its position as an international leader in smart urban management and digital transformation.
The comprehensive report evaluated 61 major global cities across multiple dimensions, including digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence integration, mobility, sustainability, and citizen-centric digital services. Dubai’s top-tier ranking reflects its aggressive implementation of cutting-edge technology into daily civic governance and infrastructure networks.
The emirate achieved exceptional scores in public service digitization and intelligent transport solutions. According to the BCG assessment, Dubai’s integrated digital government frameworks—which allow citizens and residents to access virtually all municipal services via unified mobile platforms—served as a primary driver for its high standing.
London took the top spot in the overall rankings, with Dubai closely following in second place, surpassing traditional technology hubs including Singapore, Tokyo, and New York. The evaluation highlighted Dubai’s proactive adoption of autonomous transit targets, smart grid energy management, and paperless administrative initiatives.
Commenting on the results, urban policy experts noted that Dubai’s strategic focus on artificial intelligence and predictive urban planning has accelerated its performance. The Dubai Smart City strategy, alongside recent initiatives to integrate generative AI into government workflows, contributed significantly to its performance metrics.
City authorities continue to target fully autonomous public transportation systems by 2030, alongside expanding smart sustainability frameworks aimed at reducing urban carbon footprints. The BCG report underscores that cities prioritizing agile digital governance alongside physical infrastructure resilience are best positioned to maintain global competitiveness.
