DUBAI, UAE — August 6, 2026: A delegation from the World Malayali Council (WMC) Middle East Region met with the newly appointed Consul General of India in Dubai, Dr. Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, at the consulate premises to discuss enhanced welfare initiatives for the Indian expatriate community.
The discussion focused on crucial areas affecting Indian nationals residing in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, including financial literacy for blue-collar workers, health awareness drives, and the formation of a dedicated professional response wing to assist during emergencies.
During the interaction, the WMC delegation briefed the Consul General on the organization’s expansive international network, which operates across more than 80 provinces in five global regions. The leadership presented an overview of ongoing community outreach programs designed to support non-resident Indians (NRIs) and non-resident Keralites (NRKs) throughout the Middle East.
Key priorities highlighted during the meeting centered on empowering Indian workers through structured awareness campaigns. The council outlined plans to educate both skilled and unskilled laborers on safe financial practices, secure savings channels, and legal protection. To address growing health concerns among the diaspora, the council announced plans to organize periodic medical check-up camps and wellness programs in collaboration with local health authorities and private medical providers.
The delegation also presented a proposal to form a specialized support wing comprising doctors, legal experts, and prominent business leaders. This proposed group aims to assist the Indian Consulate in critical areas, including the repatriation of mortal remains, emergency medical aid, legal counsel, and crisis management during natural disasters or unforeseen emergencies.
Dr. Reddy commended the World Malayali Council for its structured community engagement and reaffirmed the consulate’s commitment to supporting initiatives that prioritize the safety and well-being of the Indian diaspora.
The WMC delegation was led by Joy Thanangadan, Chairman of the WMC Global NRE/NRK Forum and former President of the India Social Centre (ISC) Al Ain; Sakir Hussain, Chairman of the WMC Middle East Region; Sudheer Subramanian, Regional President; and Arun George, Regional General Secretary.
