Major rush-hour bottlenecks reported around Al Nahda, Muwaileh, and industrial districts as motorists face lengthy delays.

DUBAI, August 20, 2026:Motorists traveling from Sharjah into Dubai encountered severe congestion along major inter-city arteries on Thursday morning, with peak rush-hour delays centered on the E11 and E311 highways.

Live navigation data indicates significant tailbacks along the E11 (Al Ittihad Road), stretching from the Al Taawun and Sahara Centre areas across the border into Al Nahda. Slow-moving conditions were further reported around the Al Nahda interchange and connecting links toward Al Qusais, though secondary neighborhood streets through Al Qusais showed relatively clear flow.

Commuters on the E311 (Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road) faced parallel disruptions, particularly along stretches passing through Muwaileh and Sharjah’s industrial zones. Traffic ground to stop-and-go speeds surrounding Industrial Areas 11 and 15 before clearing gradually past major junctions.

The recurring pattern mirrors regional corridor congestion observed earlier this month, where traffic bottlenecked around Al Khan, Sahara Centre, and the industrial sectors.

Local traffic flow within central Sharjah remained largely uninterrupted. The E88 (Al Dhaid Road) near the Ruler’s Office and Sharjah Library maintained normal movement, alongside smooth conditions around Al Fayha and Kuwait Square, despite minor queuing near roundabouts.

Authorities remind drivers that an active road diversion between Industrial Areas 12 and 13 remains in place through August 30 to facilitate ongoing infrastructure and maintenance works.

clear weather conditions ruled out atmospheric disruptions. The National Centre of Meteorology projected fair to partly cloudy skies across the country, with temperatures in Dubai easing toward 39°C.

Transport authorities advise drivers traveling between the two emirates to plan additional travel time and monitor real-time routing apps prior to departure.
