Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 16 September 2026: Hospitality Management Holding (HMH) is expanding the use of technology and circular-economy practices across its managed hotel portfolio as the hospitality sector increasingly looks to reduce resource consumption while improving long-term operational efficiency.
Across HMH-managed hotels, initiatives targeting food waste, water consumption, single-use plastics, and end-of-life materials show how sustainability is moving beyond corporate commitments and becoming part of everyday hotel operations.
Properties in the Northern Emirates are providing practical examples of this shift. At Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, a biodigester processes food waste generated by the resort’s kitchens and converts it into greywater for landscape irrigation. The initiative creates a circular solution to two resource challenges, reducing organic waste sent to landfill while producing water that can be reused within the property.
The resort has also introduced an on-site water bottling plant to reduce its reliance on single-use plastic bottles. Meanwhile, its Coralganic Garden produces fruit and vegetables for the resort’s culinary operations, supporting shorter supply chains and offering another example of how sustainability can be incorporated into the hotel operating model.
At Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel, the focus has extended to water technology. The hotel has introduced atmospheric water generators, which extract humidity from the air to produce drinking water. The technology provides an alternative source of potable water while helping reduce dependence on conventionally bottled water, associated plastic consumption and transportation.
Circularity is also being applied to materials traditionally treated as waste. Coral Beach Resort Sharjah and Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel have participated in textile circularity initiatives that divert end-of-life hotel linens and uniforms from landfill, enabling the materials to be repurposed and given a second life.
The approach reflects a wider shift within the hospitality industry, where environmental performance is becoming increasingly connected to operational efficiency, procurement, asset management and long-term business strategy.
Collaboration is also becoming an important part of that transition. Coral Beach Resort Sharjah hosted the launch of the Emirates Hospitality Sustainability Alliance, bringing hospitality stakeholders together to exchange knowledge and explore practical responses to shared industry challenges, including water and energy consumption, food waste, procurement and resource efficiency.
Together, the initiatives show how individual properties can address sustainability through solutions tailored to their operational needs. From converting food waste into a reusable resource and generating drinking water from atmospheric humidity to reducing single-use plastics and extending the life of textiles, HMH-managed hotels are applying sustainability at property level rather than treating it solely as a corporate objective.
As tourism and hospitality continue to expand across the UAE, the relationship between environmental responsibility and operational performance is likely to become increasingly important. For hotel operators, resource efficiency can support not only environmental objectives but also more resilient operations and a hospitality model better equipped for long-term growth.
