Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to hold its 119th Open Auction of distinctive vehicle plate numbers, offering a highly sought-after collection of 90 unique 2, 3, 4, and 5-digit plates. The auction, featuring prominent super numbers such as BB 88 and BB 777, will take place on Saturday, 27th September 2025, at the Grand Hyatt Dubai Hotel, beginning at 4:30 PM.
The plate numbers available are from popular codes including AA, BB, K, L, M, N, P, Q, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z, appealing to car enthusiasts, collectors, and investors interested in exclusive and personalized plates. Such auctions are highly competitive in Dubai, where vehicle registration numbers have long been viewed as status symbols.
Registration for interested bidders will open on Monday, 22nd September 2025, and can be completed via the RTA official website (www.rta.ae) or in person at Customer Happiness Centres located in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha. Given the limited seating and priority offered to auction participants, early registration is strongly recommended. On the auction day, registration will also be available from 2:00 PM onwards at the venue.
Each plate number sale will incur a 5% value-added tax (VAT). To participate in the auction, bidders must possess a valid traffic file in the Emirate of Dubai. Additionally, participants are required to submit a security deposit cheque of AED 25,000 payable to RTA, along with a non-refundable registration fee of AED 120. These payments can be made via credit card, through the RTA website, or directly at the Customer Happiness Centres.
This high-profile auction represents an important event for car collectors and individuals seeking prestigious vehicle plate numbers in the UAE. The spotlight on super numbers like BB 88 and BB 777 underscores their rarity and desirability in the market, further driving competition.
