Dubai – The annual Malayala Manorama Vidyarambham is set to bring together Malayali families across the UAE this October, offering children their first steps into the world of letters in a traditional and memorable way. This year, popular playback singer G. Venugopal will grace the event as the chief guest, initiating children into their first alphabet. The ceremony will also see the participation of Indian Consul General in Dubai, Satish Kumar Sivan, and writer Jose Panachippuram, Editorial Director of Malayala Manorama, who will join as gurus for the occasion.
The Vidyarambham celebrations will take place on October 2, 2025, from 6:00 am at the Lavender Hotel in Dubai’s Al Nahda. Families from all seven emirates are expected to attend, with parents bringing their children to experience the traditional Malayalam initiation ritual known as Ezhuthiniruthu. The program mirrors the cultural and religious practices followed in Kerala, allowing expatriate families to offer their children the same beginnings without the need to travel home.
Organizers have confirmed that the event will be completely free of cost, making it accessible to all Malayali families in the UAE. In addition, special gifts have been prepared for children taking part in the first-letter writing ceremony. The initiative not only celebrates Malayalam culture abroad but also strengthens community ties among Malayali expatriates in the Gulf.
Malayala Manorama’s Vidyarambham has become a trusted cultural landmark for expatriates, offering authenticity and a sense of belonging far from home. For families unable to travel to Kerala during Vijayadashami, the event provides a meaningful alternative with all the rituals and guidance intact. Organizers have also encouraged those who have not yet registered to do so promptly, noting that the response has already been overwhelming. Interested participants can contact 04-3748920 for registration.
The Vidyarambham ceremony highlights the deep-rooted cultural connections between Kerala and the UAE, reflecting the community’s desire to preserve traditions across generations. With noted personalities guiding the rituals and a strong turnout expected, this year’s edition promises to be both spiritually enriching and emotionally significant for Malayali families in the region.
