Sharjah Police Seize 140 Vehicles Over Illegal Modifications, Warn Drivers on Noise Violations

Sharjah: Sharjah Police have announced the seizure of 100 vehicles and 40 motorcycles across the emirate for illegal modifications that threaten road safety and disturb residents. The action comes as part of ongoing campaigns targeting vehicles that breach traffic laws and create noise nuisances.

The seizures were carried out through a combination of fixed checkpoints and mobile patrols, focusing on vehicles that are modified without permits or in ways that generate excessive noise. Authorities stressed that unlicensed modifications not only compromise the safety of drivers and other road users but also affect the comfort and wellbeing of the public.

Officials emphasized that the campaign is designed to raise awareness and correct harmful behaviours, not merely to punish offenders. Drivers are urged to comply with regulations and contribute to safer roads through responsible vehicle practices.

Under Federal Traffic Law, drivers causing noise disturbances through horns or music systems face a Dh400 fine and four black points. If the noise is linked to a modified or loud vehicle, penalties rise to Dh2,000 with 12 black points. Additionally, unauthorized modified vehicles may be impounded, with a Dh10,000 release fee. Unpaid vehicles after three months are subject to auction.

Sharjah Police highlighted that last year, 504 fines were issued for noise violations in Sharjah, 117 in Ajman, and 8 in Fujairah. Similarly, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain authorities seized 106 vehicles in January 2025 for excessive modifications causing noise disturbances.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to public safety and awareness, urging residents to respect vehicle laws and maintain the comfort and security of the community.
