Talks focus on regulatory alignment, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth for local enterprises operating across online on-demand platforms.
SHARJAH — 29 September 2026 : The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has held high-level discussions with on-demand delivery platform Talabat to explore bilateral cooperation aimed at strengthening the emirate’s commercial ecosystem and advancing digital commerce.
Officials from SEDD met with representatives of Talabat to review operational frameworks that support the commercial sector while accelerating economic diversification across Sharjah.
Central to the discussions was business continuity within the framework of local laws and commercial mandates. Both sides examined operational standards required to ensure full regulatory compliance across on-demand and quick-commerce operations, protecting consumer rights and standardizing merchant practices.
The meeting reviewed procedural mechanisms designed to simplify commercial workflows, reduce compliance friction for merchant partners, and improve delivery network efficiencies throughout the emirate. Talks also addressed support packages and institutional facilities that allow small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to scale their operations securely through digital channels.
Khalid Al Suwaidi, Director of the Commercial and Industrial Development Department at SEDD, highlighted the role of public-private collaboration in maintaining market momentum.
“SEDD is committed to building effective partnerships with various entities to help develop the business environment and boost the emirate’s competitiveness,” Al Suwaidi said. “Cooperation with Talabat represents a significant opportunity to exchange ideas and explore joint initiatives that support business owners and keep pace with the rapid developments in the services sector and digital platforms.”
The initiative forms part of Sharjah’s broader strategy to modernize its retail infrastructure, integrate digital logistics into the mainstream economy, and ensure commercial regulations evolve alongside high-growth delivery platforms.
