Provincial leadership and health officials inspect hospitals across the capital as foreign embassies confirm citizen casualties following weekend attacks on King Khalid International Airport.

RIYADH — October 13, 2026 : Top Saudi regional and health officials have toured medical centers across Riyadh to inspect the care provided to hundreds of civilians injured in consecutive weekend attacks on King Khalid International Airport.

Riyadh Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz and Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz visited several capital hospitals on Monday, conveying the support of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to patients recovering from blast injuries.

Health authorities have mobilized specialized medical teams across Riyadh to oversee treatment regimens for over 300 individuals injured in the weekend assaults. Prince Faisal instructed hospital administrations to ensure all surgical, rehabilitative, and logistical care remains free and uninterrupted until every patient is fully discharged.

The hospital tours follow two separate aerial strikes targeting the kingdom’s primary air hub. According to figures released by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Saturday’s strike killed 13 people and wounded 309. A subsequent attack on Sunday resulted in one death and left 11 others wounded. Civil aviation safety inspectors and engineers continue to survey terminal facilities and perimeter infrastructure to evaluate structural damage and reinforce security protocols.

Casualties include a broad cross-section of domestic travelers, transit passengers, and foreign expatriates. GACA confirmed that Saturday’s fatalities comprised four Saudi citizens and nine foreign nationals hailing from Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, India, and Sudan. The fatality in Sunday’s attack was identified as a Pakistani resident.

Saudi Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel held briefings with emergency trauma specialists treating the wounded, issuing assurances that the kingdom’s healthcare system will support foreign visitors caught in the strikes. Among those visited by the minister were an Omani physician and a UAE-based educator who were transiting through Riyadh en route to Jeddah to perform Umrah. Al-Jalajel confirmed the state would coordinate their convalescence and assist in fulfilling their pilgrimage once cleared by attending doctors.

Diplomatic missions across the Gulf have mobilized consular support teams to assist affected citizens and liaise with Saudi authorities.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Sunday that an Indian national died during Saturday’s strike and 10 others suffered injuries. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said consular officials are coordinating directly with hospital staff and the victim’s family to expedite the repatriation of mortal remains.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a statement wishing a swift recovery to six injured Pakistani citizens, noting that the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh is assisting affected households and maintaining continuous contact with Saudi interior and healthcare authorities.
